The Barmaid Drink Rimmer is a pump-action device that can be used with one hand to coat the glass rim with any flavored salt, sugar, or spice of your choosing. To use it, the rim of a glass needs to be rubbed with a wedge of fruit like a slice of lemon or lime so the surface gets slightly sticky. Just wetting water or alcohol won't accomplish the task. The Barmaid Drink Rimmer is then placed against the lip of the glass and the button at the top is squeezed to release the amount of seasoning desired. The bottom piece is on a swivel to ease circling the glass.
After multiple attempts using the device on both a margarita glass and a martini glass, I kept running into the same problem of seasoning spilling out of the device as I moved it around the glass. It does a decent job coating the rim, but so much seasoning was wasted that it doesn’t seem worthwhile. It's interesting that the website features a video where the device is being promoted on something called NECN, yet there is no demonstration.
While The Barmaid Drink Rimmer is an interesting concept, the execution is too poor to recommend, which is a shame because they have a lot of great flavors that would go well with a variety of drinks. The Cocktail Spice Sampler contains Sweet Mint Cocktail Sugar, Fresh Lemon Cocktail Sugar, Cinnamon Harvest Cocktail Sugar, Spicy Chili Cocktail, and Tangy Lime Cocktail Salt. The Margarita Fiesta Sampler offers Tangy Lime Cocktail Salt, Spicy Chili Cocktail Salt, Premium Sea Salt, and Fresh Lemon Cocktail Sugar. I would recommend buying the flavored seasonings they sell.
